Nicholas Viatcheslav Sovinsky

Nicholas Viatcheslav Sovinsky, a retired employee of Mobil Oil and a retired Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, passed away at the age of 96 on Friday, September 1, 2017. Mr. Sovinsky was born on February 24, 1921 in Vladivostok, Siberia and has lived in New Orleans for the past 51 years. Beloved husband of 73 years of Joan Elaine Ditmer Sovinsky. Father of Nicholas John (Joan), Craig Michael (Pattie) and Stephen Scott Sovinsky (Donna), Barbara Jo Weber (Raymond), and Karen Louise Short (Donald). Grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Son of the late Viacheslav Nikolai Sovinsky and Olga Michaelovna Bergher. Brother of the late Leo Viacheslav Sovinsky. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Joyce, Laura, Sabrina and the entire staff at The Landing at Behrman Place for their endless care and support. A private service will be held at a later date.
