Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere, who was shot and killed while responding to an incident in Marrero on Friday morning, January 20, 2017, was a U.S. Marine Sergeant who served in Afghanistan before joining the police force in July 2015. He celebrated his 26th birthday just days before the incident.
Born and raised in Marrero, LA, Officer Louviere was a loving, devoted husband and father of two young children.
He attended Archbishop Shaw High School and graduated first in his class from the Kenner Police Academy, where he won multiple awards, and continued to strive for outstanding performance while serving the community he loved.
Officer Louviere was friendly, kind, and helpful to all. Michael was a true man of God and a devoted member of Westpoint Church in Terrytown. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, gardening with his children, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley Hunter; Daughter, Kinley; Son, Elijah; Parents, Pam and Randy Louviere; Grandparents Allen and Judy Louviere; and Brother, Barry Blanchard (Esperanza); as well as In-Laws, Brett and Terri Hunter; Brothers-in-law, Brett Hunter, Jr. (Stacey) and Matthew Hunter (Katlyn); 2 nieces and 3 nephews; and many extended family, friends, Brothers and Sisters in Blue and Brothers and Sisters in Arms.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl Ralph and Anna Boulas.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 from 9 AM until 1 PM at White Dove Fellowship Church, 3600 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey, LA, with a funeral service and celebration of life immediately following.
Burial with full Honors will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA.
