Maurice E. Whipple, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Ruth G. Whipple for 52 years. Father of Melissa W. Coulon (Mark), Paul Whipple (Tory), Tammy Whipple, Dana Richard (Scott), and Jessica Newchurch (Jared). Son of the late Jeanne and Maurice Whipple, Sr. Brother of Irene Tabor, Maureen Bourgeois, and the late Charles Whipple. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 8615. He served his country honorably as a veteran of the National Guard. He never met a stranger and his goal everyday was to make someone smile. He was a native of Thibodaux, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA for the past 25 years. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Knights of Columbus Council No. 8615 are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Ave. Gretna, LA on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 1pm. Visitation will be held at the church from 11am until 1pm. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
