Marie-Anna Rispoli Danna

June 16, 1944 — January 3, 2018

Marie-Anna Rispoli Danna passed away on January 3, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Danna, Sr., cherished mother of John Joseph Danna, Jr., devoted mother-in-law of Ashley Page Danna, and most importantly, the treasured grandmother of Lily Catherine Danna. She was the daughter of the late Charles Francis Rispoli, Jr. and Helen Reed Bongiovani. She was the cherished sister of Charles Francis Rispoli, III, Charleslyn Rispoli Soleto and the late Helen Lucille Rispoli. Sister-in-law of William Soleto, Michael Danna, Fran Danna, Joseph Colonnetta and Barbara Danna Colonetta. She was the devoted aunt of Charles Francis Rispoli, IV, Alicia Plaideau Rispoli, Nicole Rispoli Coates, Geno Dominic Soleto, Vittoria S. Latapie, Walter R. Latapie, III, Dana Walther Klein, Joseph V. Colonnetta, Kimberly Colonnetta, John D. Colonnetta, Melissa M. Colonnetta, Elaine D. Draudt, Chris Draudt, Michael F. Danna and Cayla B. Danna. She was the cherished great aunt of Carlo and Giovanni Rispoli; Gabriel Blatty; Cadyn Coates; Walter R. Latapie, IV; Michael, Lucy, Damon, Jack, Anthony and Katherine Colonnetta; Jackson and Ellie Draudt; and Kallie, Bella and Addison Danna. She also leaves behind innumerable cousins, godchildren and friends whom she loved dearly. She was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, a proud graduate of Warren Easton High School and Charity School of Nursing. She was a parishioner of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Harvey since its founding, and a recipient of the Archdiocese of New Orleans’s St. Louis Medallion. She dearly loved her fellow parishioners and the Salesian Fathers who administer the parish. She was also a member of the Third Order of St. Dominic. Throughout her life she suffered from numerous physical afflictions, but bore her pain patiently and without wavering in her faith. She prayed without ceasing, offering her daily Rosary for the intentions of her friends and family. Her contagious smile lit up any room she entered. Her listening ear and gentle counsel comforted anyone with whom she spoke. Her sense of humor and infectious laugh made her the “life of the party”. After the death of her beloved husband, John, in 2003, she struggled greatly to continue without him, but she devoted herself to her son and daughter-in-law. In 2008 she received a new lease on life with the birth of her first and only granddaughter, Lily. The title “Grandma” was the title of which she was most proud. She spent the remainder of her life giving freely of herself in support of her family and friends. Her family and friends can only accept her loss with the knowledge that she is at peace with Jesus, her Savior, and with his blessed Mother, and is now reunited with her husband John, who was truly the love of her life. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 2114 Oakmere St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 12 noon.
