Joseph John Jambon

October 11, 1923 — May 3, 2018

Joseph John Jambon passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 with family by his side at the age of 94. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy Thompson Jambon; his children, Glen Alan Jambon (Jo Ann Delger) and Judy Jambon Sullivan (Henry G. Sullivan, Jr.). Also, his loving granddaughters, Alicia Hindelang Austin (Chad), Ashley Jude Jambon and very special step grandchildren, Kathleen Sullivan Couvillion (Kevin), Lauren Sullivan Havrylkoff (David) and Henry G. Sullivan, III (Monique). He is also survived by great grandchildren, Mason Jude Austin, Davis Hartford Austin and many loving step great grandchildren. He was born to the late Achille and Agnes Pizani Jambon. His siblings include the late Zula Jambon Foret, Cecile Jambon Cooper, Inez Jambon Pertuit, Anthony Jambon, Carol Jambon, Sr., Eola Jambon Baker and Mason Jambon. He had numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to him. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific. He retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Gretna Police Department and worked in the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64, Veterans of Foreign Wars John McDonogh Post 3121, Knights of Columbus Archbishop Blenk Council 1905, Louisiana Peace Officers Association and Jefferson Federation of Police. The Jambon family would like to extend special thanks to Peggy Creppel who lovingly cared for him during his illness, Total Home Health and Heart of Hospice. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 6th Street, Gretna, LA on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 8:30AM until 10:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30AM. Interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
