James F. “Mr. Jim” Berggren, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of Carmen Garcia Berggren for 52 years. Loving father of Constance B. Weary (Ed), James A. Berggren (Kristie), Robert J. Berggren, Carmen M. Berggren (fiancé Michael), and Jeffery D. Berggren. Grandfather of Raven and Clint Amacker, Brenden and Presten Berggren. Brother of Thomas “Tom” Berggren, Jane T. Berggren, the late Joseph L. Berggren, Mary Rita Lukinovich, Elizabeth “Betty” Fulton and Janice T. Raspino. Son of the late Bernadette Jones Berggren and Louis S. Berggren. Mr. Jim was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years and also a retired insurance agent with American General Life after 12 years. He was a parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady, Marrero and a founding member of the St. Henry’s CYO, New Orleans. Mr. Berggren also worked as a supervisor with the Jefferson Parish Recreation Dept.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:30 PM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Parlors will be open Thursday from 10 AM until 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Visitation of Our Lady Church, Marrero, LA.
