Helen Seaton Cunningham passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Our Lady of Wisdom in Algiers on July 22, 2017. She was 83 years old, born on August 11, 1933 and was a resident of both Algiers and Marrero. She was a devoted wife for 31 years to the late Junius (Chick) Cunningham who was a career Navy man. Living a military life, the family moved multiple times and she loved to share stories about her life in Bermuda. She was a dedicated housewife, talented seamstress, and later in life, a real estate agent for Latter & Blum. Survived by her children, Deborah Burst, Twana Mumphrey, Michelle Guirard and the late Junius (Skip) Cunningham, Jr., and her sons-in-law Michael Burst, Ed Guirard and the late Michael Mumphrey. She was a loving grandmother to Russell Rivet, Julie Burst and Jared Burst.
Born and raised in Hope, Arkansas, she was preceded in death by her parents Willie Seaton and Opal Lockard Seaton, her sisters Alice Rogers, Wanda Madden, Carolyn Seaton and her brothers, Billie Seaton and David Seaton. She is survived by her brother Larry Seaton and her sister Annalou Cotter and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff of Our Lady of Wisdom in Algiers. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Helen will be dearly missed and her spirit will live on forever in our hearts. Private funeral services were held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME.
