Harold Edgar Chastant, Jr. passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Beloved husband of 18 years to Helen Arlene Palmer Chastant. Son of the late Harold Chastant, Sr. and Mildred Lena Williams Chastant. Father of Harold Chastant, III (Bridget), Janet C. Hannah (J.B.), Rose C. Haley (Joe), Daniel Chastant (Rene’e), Carol C. Doiron (Curtis), Alan Chastant, and the late Sandy Overheim (late Don). Grandfather of Harold “Hal” Chastant, IV (Monica), Dennis Chastant, Jeff Chastant (Dianna), Melissa C. Delatte (late John), Marie C. Stevenson (Eric), Tammy H. Carter (Joe), Jay Hannah (Jennifer), Gary Haley, Alicia O. Aldy (Jimmy II), Donnie Overheim II (Sara), Daniel Chastant, Jr. (Jennifer), Lisa C. Richard (Chad), Mallory C. Bergeron (Vincent), Curtis Doiron, Jr., Cody Doiron, Jordan Chastant, and Kaleigh C. Pessin (Eric). Great-grandfather of Harold V, Luke, Collin, Waylan, Jarret, Jacob, Matthew, Cerah, John Paul, Victoria, Samantha, Ethan, Sophia, David (Lauren), Katelynn (Daniel), Matthew, Lenni, Samuel, Jake, Kelcie, Kyleigh, Daniel III, Zachary, Gavin, Knox, Ava, Dean, Hayden, Jaycie, Mathis, and Liam. Great-great-grandfather of Brayden and Harper. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marie Louise Bourgeois Chastant. Brother of the late Lester Chastant (late Lydia). Survived by Arlene’s children Philip Stutler (Karen), Deborah S. Gerdes, Charles Stutler, and the late Sue S. Vargas (Adolf), grandchildren Don, T.J., Joseph, and Brooke, and five great-grandchildren. Age 88 years, a native of New Orleans and resident of Terrytown, LA. Harold was a member of the United States Naval Reserve. He worked for Tennessee Coal and Iron now United States Steel until retirement. He was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 6870 and the King Elders. Also member of First Baptist Church of Marrero. He said his greatest achievement were his seven children, and he will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all.
