Elwood P. "Woody" Gomez

Elwood P. “Woody” Gomez Sr, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eldrid Dugas Gomez; parents, Harold and Norma Gomez; siblings, Ulice Gomez, Merlin Gomez, Raymond Gomez, Elsie Olivier and Lois Lauricella. He is the loving father of Elwood P. Gomez Jr (Gay) and Charlotte Gomez Hendricks (Gary). He is devoted grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. An avid Tulane fan, Woody was a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service and a WWII Navy Veteran. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Tranquil Living Center in Marrero. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM from the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna.
