Elnora Borne Dixon

Elnora Borne Dixon, a resident of Algiers for most of her life, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the age of 88. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Dixon, her son Charles J. Dixon, Jr. and grandson Chas Dixon, her parents, Abel and Lucille Borne, her brothers, A.J. and Eddie Borne. She is survived by her sons, Remy, Mike, Pat and Tim Dixon (Adair), her grandchildren, Jacque, Remy, Abbey and Tim, her beloved sister and best friend, Agnes Tranchina and brother, Bobby Borne. She was the owner and true boss at the family business, Westside Cleaners for over 65 years. Devoted member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers where she received the Order of St. Louis Medal, annually given for volunteerism. She was a member of Algiers Irish Association, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary #1724, VFW #3121 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 218 Auxiliary, Magnolia Home Demonstration Club, Sultanas of Argon #65, Magnifcat Prayer Group, Catholic Daughters of America and Theta Rho Beta Sorority. She volunteered weekly at numerous retirement homes. Many friends and strangers alike know her from walking the Oakwood Mall 7 days a week for many years. She was a loyal and loving member of the Ladies Exercise and Wine Club and certainly enjoyed and wouldn't miss the monthly Borne family luncheon. She was a special mother and a true joy to all who knew her. Many people knew and smiled at her always wanting to stay busy and share her love of life with others. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret St., Algiers, LA on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12noon. Visitation will be held at the church from 10am until 12noon. Interment, St. Bartholomew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory is preferred.
