Elmire Marie Barbier "Mickey" Lee

Elmire Marie Barbier “Mickey” Lee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Houma, Louisiana at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace Bluford Lee; daughter, Wendy Lee Brown; parents, Thomas Frederick Barbier and Lydia LeBlanc Barbier; sisters, Edith Ullrich, Lelia Hymel, Linda Mole; brothers, Eddie Barbier, Ivy “Crip” Barbier and Roland “Pie” Barbier. She is the devoted mother of Alan Paul Lee of Lafitte, LA, Mark Hudson Lee (Margaret) of Houma, LA and Oren Michael Lee (Von) of McDonough, GA. She is the loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren, Nicole Elmire Wooden, Anna Catherine Lee, Laura Hudson Lee, Kim Howard McCool, Alisha Howard Borichevsky and great grandmother of 3 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by son-in-law, Charlie Brown of Jackson, GA; sister-in-law, Willie Barbier and brothers-in-law, Mike Mole and Frank Lee; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was born September 27, 1922 in Lockport, Louisiana, but spent most of her adolescent years on Avenue B in Westwego. A longtime resident of Lafitte, Louisiana, Mickey as she would always be known, loved everyone and everything except snakes, big black grasshoppers and roaches. Mickey absolutely loved Mardi Gras and was known for her annual Krewe of Lee party held in conjunction with the Krewe of Rosethorne parade at the family home in Lafitte. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express a very special thankyou to everyone at Heritage Manor of Houma, Dr. Cinnater and Nancy Tabor Faucheaux and St. Catherine Hospice for their loving care and respect during her time there. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, September 8, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM all at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 8151 Barataria Blvd., Crown Point, LA. Interment to follow at St. Pius X Catholic Church Cemetery in Crown Point. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mickey’s name to The Times Picayune Doll and Toy Fund of New Orleans, or the charity of one’s choice.
