Edna Lanassa Adams

Edna Bernadette Lanassa Adams, 94, of Westwego, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at West Jefferson Hospital.
Edna is survived by her husband of 76 years, Francis Albert Adams. They were married on January 28, 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Adams had recently been inducted into the Louisiana Family Forum's Marriage Hall of Fame for being one of Louisiana's longest married couples.
Edna is also survived by her daughter Joy Adams Beck; her grandchildren Kevin Beck (Tammy), Kitty Beck (Richard Bird), Kristel Beck Davis, and Kade Beck (Aubrey); her greatgrandchildren Kelly Beck Croft (Christopher), Kimberly Beck, Miranda Beck-Bird, Samuel Beck-Bird, Hannah "Lorraine" Davis, Crystal Blackwell and Maria Blackwell; her great-greatgrandchildren Mathew Croft, Carson Croft and Mika Blackwell; her loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
Edna is preceded in death by her son Francis Albert Adams Jr.; her parents Fredrick and Edna Granier Lanassa; and her siblings Fredrick Jr. and Evelyn Sigur.
Edna was well known throughout Westwego for her generous work with La Boutique Des Huit Chapeaux et Quarante Femmes and the Ladies Auxiliaries for American Legion Post 206, Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), Am vets, Disabled American Veterans (DAV); her many years of employment at Morgan and Lindsey; her participation at the City of Westwego's Ernest J. Tassin Senior Citizen Center; her love for bingo, playing cards, gardening, fishing, dancing, and her excellent cooking. Her passing has left a void in the lives of many.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Westwego, LA. Parlors will be open Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 6 PM until 9 PM and again Wednesday from 8 AM until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Cancer Research.
