Edgar Eugene Laborie Jr. of Belle Chasse, LA, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 63. Beloved son of Mary Evelyn Miller Laborie and the late Edgar Eugene Laborie Sr. Loving brother of Darlene Laborie Larkin (Kenneth) and Elizabeth Laborie Klein (the late Martin III). He is survived by Martin E. Klein IV (Roxanne) and Julie L. Foreman, M.D. (Adam). His legacy will be forever memorialized in the hearts and lives of his nephews, Martin Klein V and Maxwell Klein and nieces, Elizabeth Foreman and Katherine Foreman. A 1972 graduate of Archbishop Shaw High School and attended University of New Orleans. He was employed by Chevron Chemical Company in Belle Chasse for many years. Edgar’s own brilliant mind, nurtured by his father’s ability to fix virtually anything from electrical to mechanical, made him the go-to person for keeping things running smoothly for his entire family and several friends. Even during his many illnesses, he was always willing to help anyone, if not physically, then by verbal instruction. He loved a challenge and spent lots of time researching a variety of subjects including science and nature. But above all, he was a selfless son as he lovingly acted as caregiver to his father and mother for many years.
Relatives and friends of the family, employees of Chevron Chemical Company are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center, 5600 General DeGaulle Drive in New Orleans on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until Mass time. Interment will be private at a later date. Masses are welcomed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Ochsner Medical Center-Westbank, Ochsner Organ Transplant Department and to Shibu Varughese, M.D. for their compassion and loving care.
