Carol Annette McDonald Foster was born May 18, 1964 and passed away on August 24, 2017 at the age of 53 years.
Carol was a beautiful soul. Her patience and insightfulness was a gift. She was thoughtful, caring and put others before herself. Her friends were lifelong and many.
Carol was born in Anchorage, Alaska two months after the great 9.2 earthquake that year. She was named by her father and grew up being called “Carol Annette.” She moved to Juneau, Alaska at age 3 and then to New Orleans in 1969 at age 5. That same home remained in the family and she had the opportunity to return to the street she grew up on in 2015.
Her husband, Bob, was an attorney in private practice when they married. His encouragement and support enabled Carol to return to school for both BSN and CRNA degrees. Together they worked hard and raised their two sons; Scott now in his own private landscaping business and Nicholas a sophomore at college in the pharmacy program.
Carol’s career at West Jefferson Hospital spanned over 25 years as both a nurse and nurse anesthetist. She went to work at Parish Anesthesia (now LCMC Anesthesia) after graduating and continued at West Jefferson for the last 15 years. Her co-workers and supervisors considered her an asset especially when it came to pediatrics. They valued her professionally and personally. She helped and supported many of her friends and colleagues to achieve their professional goals as well.
Carol was a superb cook. Everyone remembers some of the best food ever came from, or at Carol’s house. That is how she showed her love for her family and her friends. The love made for good times and good memories.
Carol Annette passed away at the family home on Thursday, August 24th. She is survived by her two sons, Scott and Nicholas; her sister Melinda Taylor and her husband Tom; her niece Christa Boyd-Nafstad and nephew Bret Boyd.
She was preceded in death by father J. Scott McDonald (1977); mother Molly J. McDonald Revels (2009), step-father J. Clifton Revels (2014); and husband Robert M. “Bob” Foster in November 2016.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 3643 Aurora Dr., New Orleans 70131 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with the service and repast to follow.
Please join us in celebration of Carol’s life; she will be missed by all who knew her.
