Beatrice Rita Cossich Dimak

November 13, 1928 — June 20, 2018

Beatrice Rita Cossich Dimak, age 89, of Picayune, MS, a native of Empire, LA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Visitation will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Empire, LA on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:30am, immediately followed by a funeral mass.

Beatrice lived in Empire, LA for seventy-seven years prior to Hurricane Katrina. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and trusted friend, Beatrice loved to fish, was an excellent homemaker, and a great cook. Her bread pudding was DELICIOUS! An avid sports fan, one of her happiest moments was seeing the New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl (she always professed she would never live to see it, but she did). A die-hard LSU football and baseball fan, she would not go to bed until the games were over, even when they went into overtime, or extra innings that lasted until 1:00 in the morning.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Anthony P. “Tony” Dimak, Sr., her son, Anthony “Pete” Dimak, Jr, her parents, John Cossich, Sr. and Inez Ronquillo Cossich, her brother, John Cossich, Jr, her sister, Claudette Cossich Stewart, and infant great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Michele Linden.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Toni Dimak Watkins and Sharlene Dimak, her son, Dennis M. Dimak, and her brother, Claude “Zig” Cossich (Shirley). Seven grandchildren Carla Guttry, Nicole Vivoni Smith, John J. Vivoni, Jr., Denise Dimak Choisser (Barry), Sherry Dimak James (Greg), Jason Dimak, and Cody Dimak (MaryAnne). Her great-grandchildren Mallory Smith Linden (Lance), Abigail Choisser, Amelia Choisser, Alaina Choisser, Tianna Dimak, and Alyna Dimak.
Beatrice supported numerous charities including The Lymphoma Foundation of America ( www.lymphoma.org ), The American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ), The Disabled Veterans ( www.dav.org ), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ), and The Covenant House of New Orleans ( www.covenanthousenola.org ). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Covenant House of New Orleans located at 611 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, LA 70112.
